Drop Down Sub-Menu Issue
  • First, take a look at hanumantgroup.com and see under "Businesses" main-menu, then goes the mouse over "Farming & Crop Acreages Developemnt" sub-menu and then go down with smoothly to another sub-menu below that sub-menu.

    The sub-menu under "Agriculture" menu will be dissapear and it will be showing the sub-menu from "Energy".

    Is this a bug? or any suggestions?

    I think it's a bug, we are currently waiting for Devs statement about this.

  • Sorry about being so slow on the uptake. I haven't been able to actually see this issue live so I am not too sure what it could be. Any ideas, @cestbibi?

  • @cbavota you can see it here: http://demo.socialtotal.com/
    Go to: About--> Our Location -->Sample Page and try to hover down the menu, you'll see it disappear .

  • Ah. I see the issue. Gotta try to figure out a fix. The area to the right of the first drop down is an active area even if the next child menu is hidden. That is why the menus conflict.

    Simple fix. Go to line 363 of style.css and change it to this:
    nav ul ul li:hover ul {

  • Hi guys. I too am having a problem with the sub-menu navigation.

    I have seen there's a couple other threads on this topic, but they're quite old and the original posters are either no longer using PressWork so I cannot be 100% sure I have the same problem as they. One of such threads is here: http://support.presswork.me/discussion/307/drop-down-menu-issue#Item_7

    ANYWAYS... Here's my problem. If you go to http://southpeacechiropractic.com/spc/ and hover over News > Newsletters > 2008 (or 2009), then hover over January and move down to February, you'll see the year jumps. I think this is a problem with the THIRD sub-menu (the months) not being able to hold the hover. Or something to that effect.

    I've read this thread, and cbavota's post above this one seems to be the fix, but on line 363 of my style.css, I have:

    /* main content */

    So I'm pretty sure I have the wrong line... I tried replacing it regardless, and it didn't fix it, instead made others problems appears. So I've reverted it back.

    Can I confirm this is the style.css file found in "/wp-content/themes/presswork/"?

    BTW, I'm on PressWork 1.0.3 and WordPress 3.2.

  • It's line 358 actually, replace
    nav ul ul ul {
    nav ul ul li:hover ul {

    You can safely upgrade to 1.0.4 this and more problems are all fixed in new version https://github.com/digibomb/PressWork

  • Hmmm, this didn't seem to work. :(

    I haven't tried PW yet, I've never installed a theme other than by through the WP Dashboard... I'm guessing I just download the presswork folder in the link you provided and upload it into my themes folder, right?
  • Yes that's it , make sure you upload only the "presswork" directory.

  • I feel like such a doofus... Do i need to sign up to Github, or am I missing the download link somewhere?
  • It can be tricky at times I agree, just click the "ZIP" button upper left
    image PressWork Support Moderator
  • Awesome, thank you! I will upload the files tonight and hopefully it fixes all this. :)

    Can I also upgrade to WP 3.3.1 without any PW issues once this is done too?
  • Absolutely

  • Ok, I've updated PW to and updated WP to 3.3.1.

    The drop down menu is still not working as it should. :(

    I tried deactivating all plugins, made no difference. I re-enabled them, made no difference. Tried clearing the WP Super Cache, made no difference. Between each one of those attempts I refreshed the site (I held shift while clicking refresh too - not sure if that old trick is still valid).

    The link again, is: http://southpeacechiropractic.com/spc/

    Any ideas?
  • Ok Got it it's because it's a sub sub sub level so to speak.
    Stick this in your custom css:
    nav ul ul ul li:hover ul {
    left: 100% !important;
    top: 0;

    Should work now.

  • Cool, ta! Where abouts though, sorry! I don't wanna paste it any old place and screw it up! :)
  • Just ADD it to the css (whether you use BriefCase, or you made a child theme, or you use custom.css). won't screw anything don't worry.
    image PressWork Support Moderator
  • I just bought BriefCase for this site, added the code to it, and it's still not working. :(

    Any suggestions?

    I tried deactivating all plugins (except Akismet and BriefCase), but still no dice.
  • Hi again anyone...

    My above comments are in relation to this site: http://www.southpeacechiropractic.com/spc/
    This is on PW and WP 3.3.1.

    My other site, http://www.crazyregcomics.com/ is on PW 1.0.3 and WP 3.2. I've just discovered this version also has the drop down menu problem too. I don't have an example to show though, but if anyone needs to see, I can en-able my menu / pages. I'd just rather not have dead functionality on my site for now...

  • @cbavota , could you have a look at this issue ?
    image PressWork Support Moderator
  • Hi again. Just a quick bump and recap of the problem.

    If you go to http://southpeacechiropractic.com/spc/ you will see the menu. It is impossible to go to the second listed month in the News > Newsletter menus. Try News > Newsletters > 2012 first. You will see it jumps down to 2011 when you try to hover to the second month. And then in turn from 2011 to 2010, then 2010 and 2009. And so on. Very frustrating...

  • Hellooooo? Has this been abandoned?
  • Ok, it's been nearly a month since I've heard back from anyone on this topic...

    I think it'll be best I drop back to PW 1.0.3 and WP 3.2.
  • I know this thread hasn't been active in a while, but I have the same (or a similar) issue. The site I'm experiencing the issue on is: http://castlebaram.com

    If you go to the 3rd tab and try to click on the sub navs that drop down, sometimes they disappear and you have to re-hover over the tab to get them to come back. Sometimes it works fine, but often they disappear/lose focus. I've found this problem in Chrome and IE.

    I'm running the latest Presswork and WP installs. Any input you guys can give would be great!
  • Hi. I think your issue might be different to what I was experiencing... If you move the move fast enough, you can get to one of the three drop-down menus. But of course, that's not ideal. I don't have an answer for you sorry, but I suspect it has something to do with the menus margins and the area that keeps the drop-down visible while hovering.
