Social media cons
  • Where can I change the link to the social media icons so that they open up in a new window.
  • Read this thread and take example to the code at the end, you can modify it to suit your needs.

  • Thanks,
    It worked like a charm
I changed the code below in actions.php after having a rough time with my Linkedin username working.
I removed the in/ and was able to get it to work.
I think it might be a small bug but I'm not sure.
The taxonomy for Linkedin seems to be this

    echo '<a href="http://www.linkedin.com/in/'.$linkedin.'"

  • The LinkedIn URL structure used the /in/ before the username. I have not seen the /pub/ structure though that might be how you see your own profile.

  • When I open the 'Social' box and put in my FB username, the URL for the FB site generates incorrectly.
This is my FB wall page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Instant-Portland/204699146278767

I've tried so many things in that box: Instant-Portland; Instant-Portland/204699146278767; dropping the hyphen; you name it ... nothing works. I simply cannot get the box to generate a functioning link to my FB page. Ideas? Is this a bug? Surely other people try and link to FB pages that are not their personal pages....
  • The only bit you need to paste in the toolbox is 204699146278767
    I've tested it, it works.
