I can not figure out how to change Copyright
  • I want my copyright to print out Copyright [Name Of Blog]. Designed by [Conor Hughes]. Powered by [Wordpress]. Built with [Powerpress].

    Everything in [] should be links.

    I have a custome-action.php file function my_copyright_footer() {

    }

    add_action('pw_footer_bottom', 'my_copyright_footer');

    I cant find where the code is in the core files and if I have I cant understand jack. Can anyone help?

    This is the original code that you can modify to suit your needs:
    echo '<li id="copyright" class="foot">';
    echo $handle;
    $link = '<a href="'.home_url().'">'.get_bloginfo('name').'</a>';
    printf(__('&copy; %1$d %2$s. All Rights Reserved.', "presswork"), date('Y'), $link);
    echo ' ';
    printf(__('Created using %s.', "presswork"), '<a href="http://presswork.me">PressWork</a>');
    echo '</li>';

    Paste it inside your function in your custom-actions.php

    Once you are done with your custom code get rid of the original Copyright from Toolbox with the Drag & Drop editor.

  • <?php function my_copyright_footer() {<br />
    echo '';
    echo $handle;
    $link = ''.get_bloginfo('name').'';
    printf(__('© %1$d %2$s. All Rights Reserved.', "presswork"), date('Y'), $link);
    echo ' ';
    printf(__('Designed by %s.', "Conor Hughes"), 'DuzAwe.com');
    echo ' ';
    printf(__('Created using %s.', "presswork"), 'PressWork');
    echo '';
    }

    add_action('pw_footer_bottom', 'my_copyright_footer');

    This is what I have and its not working?

    Get rid of <br /> at the end of the first line.

  • so I feel really dumb, but I'm totally new to setting up Wordpress sites... can I just created a "custom-actions.php" file in my child theme directory and have it contain this text:
    <?php function my_copyright_footer() {
    echo '';
    echo $handle;
    $link = ''.get_bloginfo('name').'';
    printf(__('© %1$d %2$s. All Rights Reserved.', "presswork"), date('Y'), $link);
    echo ' ';
    printf(__('Designed by %s.', "Renee Green"), '<a href="be.net/reneemgreen">Renee M. Green</a>');
    echo ' ';
    printf(__('Created using %s.', "presswork"), '<a href="http://presswork.me">PressWork</a>');
    echo '';
    }

    add_action('pw_footer_bottom', 'my_copyright_footer');
    ?>

    or is that last line supposed to go somewhere else, or...? FWIW I'm mostly clueless about php.

  • If you have a child theme then you need to rename your file to actions.php (and put it in your child theme directory)

    custom-actions.php is just in case you don't have a child theme (and then you have to put it in the Wordpress /wp-content/uploads directory)

  • Thank you! This helps a lot :) I will slowly learn this stuff.... Also, how do you define code in the Presswork support comments? I see you've fixed my earlier snippet.

  • I've used a slightly modified version of reneemgreen's code... as the copyright symbol was not showing correctly, and the entire text was not centred.
    <?php function my_copyright_footer() {
    echo '<p align="center">';
    echo $handle;
    $link = '<a href="'.home_url().'">'.get_bloginfo('name').'</a>';
    printf(__('&copy; %1$d %2$s. All Rights Reserved.', "presswork"), date('Y'), $link);
    echo ' ';
    printf(__('Designed by %s.', "MY NAME"), 'MY NAME');
    echo ' ';
    printf(__('Created using %s.', "presswork"), '<a href="http://presswork.me">PressWork</a>');
    echo '</p><br>';
    }

    add_action('pw_footer_bottom', 'my_copyright_footer');
    ?>

    I also added the br toward the end to leave a gap after the line.
