How to make Header and Footer full width
  • Hi,

    I was trying to do it myself, but after a couple of hours around it, I didn't manage to do anything worthwhile.
    How can I make my header and Footer full width so I can style them with a different background for each one?

    Thanks in advance!
  • Anyone??
  • You need to use a custom action. This would do it:
    remove_action("pw_header_middle", "pw_header_content");
    add_action("pw_body_top", "pw_header_content");
    remove_action("pw_footer_middle", "pw_footer_content");
    add_action("pw_body_bottom", "pw_footer_content");

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your answer.
    Since I'm not a programmer, could you please give some quick help on how to style it?
    I just need a starting code. After that, I tune it to fit my needs.
    Thanks in advance!

    This should get you started:
    header#header-main { background: #eee; }
    footer#footer-main { background: #eee; }

    That should make the background a light grey and it should automatically go full width once you use the code above.

  • Awesome!
    Thanks a lot for your help :)
  • Hi! I'm trying to do the same thing: get the header and footer to extend 100%. Adding the custom actions above worked to remove the background around all the content for me. However, after adding the custom actions, I can't find any divs in the header or footer that are now full-width. Perhaps my structure is different? I did find the footer-main tag, but the 100% width only brings it to the edge of the body-wrapper, not to the edge of the page. Thanks so much! I really love presswork!
